Maritime stompers

Having enjoyed the performance of this band at the Stockamöllan Jazz Festival, we are very happy to welcome the Maritime Stompers to Göteborg. This talented group of musicians is a Trad jazz band from Malmö, fist formed in Falstebo in 1999, and have since then been the house band of the Falstebo Jazzclub.

With an age span of 38 years the group consists of a great mix of old and young, well educated and self taught musicians, four of which are also part of the Gunhild Carling Big band, and a washboard player shared with the Copenhagen washboard five.

Jelly Roll Morton is the "house god", however the repertoire spans from classics of the 1920ies to the more swinging part of the genre. The Maritime Stompers have played in festivals and clubs in Sweden, Denmark and Germany, and have released the album "The pearls" in cooperation with Gunhild Carling.

The orchestra consists of: Erik Berndalen (trumpet, vocals), Anders Holmberg (clarinet), Håkan Ekvall (soprano- and tenor saxophone), Gunilla Ibérer (piano), Bo Adamsson (banjo, guitar, band leader), Mårten Damm (tuba, vocals) och Knud Andersen (washboard, vocals)

Gentlemen & Gangsters

We are very lucky to have a number of young, talented and passionate musicians in Göteborg, focused on playing music for dancers! The band Gentlemen & Gangsters plays jazz and blues from the 1920s and 1930s with the ambition to provide an authentic musical experience for the audience. During the last year, the band has performed at Herräng Dance Camp, Stockamölla Swing & Jazz Festival, Ingesträde Jazz Festival, and other festivals and dance events. Also, the band and its music has been featured on the show "Morgonpasset Helg" broadcasted by Sveriges Radio P3, which is a Swedish radio station with national coverage. Gentlemen & Gangsters consists of six members: Pål Walfridsson - trumpet; Henrik Johnsson - trombone; Thomas Rylander - clarinet; Carl Turesson-Bernehed - banjo and vocals; Mattias Uneback - double bass; and Ulf Carling - drums and vocals.
